I haven't been posting. That much is true. But, I feel like I have a pretty good explanation this time. I've gone back to school. Err, well, that sounds much more serious than what has actually happened. In actuality, I've just started taking a class at the local community college. But, the fact is that this single class has all but monopolized my free time! Instead of house projects and blogging, I'm doing watching online lectures, doing homework and studying for my first exams since 1999. #epic is the hashtag that has best described the situation.
I think I'm the only one in the class who still writes on paper or who bought the actual *paper* textbook, but I guess I'm old fashioned. Meh, it works for me.
Because I want to remember this forever, this is a conversation between me and Colin before classes started:
me: Hey, I got into that Stats class I was thinking of taking.
Colin: Oh, great! Have you gone yet?
me: No, we meet on Thursday.
*long pause*
Colin: Do you think there will be any other old people in your class?
Most of the time, I think I feel younger than my age. 35? Old?! Not a chance. But, then put me in a classroom with a bunch of college age kids, and all of the sudden I'm feeling pretty darn old. Life's weird like that, no?
Well, anyway, I'm in the class, it's going pretty well, I'm learning lots, and it feels surprisingly good to be back in the classroom. I am working a part of my brain that has been dormant for the past 14 years, and that's a Very Good Thing.
I can't say when my next DIY project will be, or when I'll document the things I've done and not told you all about. I hope some of you will stick around until then, though, because I do plan to come back as soon as I can. But, until then I'll probably be cranking out several of these:
xo,
Emily

Way to go girl! ... But now I'm feeling really old. I have twenty years on you and just realized that you and Megan are just a few years apart. Oh my!
